Knowledge Transfer And Community Ownership In Just Transition

As Nigeria journeys towards the transition to new alternative energy, the need for communities to be proactive and gain the right knowledge required to effectively participate with the imminent technology transfer, was the focus of discussion in the 5th edition of Extractive360’s Just Energy Transition (JET) half hour program on Redemption FM, Abak, Akwa Ibom State.
Renowned Community Leader and former Liaison Officer, Chief Koko Abia, who spoke on the topic ‘Knowledge Transfer And Community Ownership In Just Transition,’ explained how energy transition will translate to wealth creation and improve the livelihood of communities, especially women and youths.
As a former liaison officer, he also shared from experience how communities can seek redress from a rights perspective for any injustice in just transition. The edition also discussed ways to achieve a power shift that gives communities control over their desired just futures and how to facilitate knowledge transfer needed for communities to effectively participate in use of new technology.
