The Role Of Strategic Alliance In Just Transition

As Nigeria journeys towards transitioning from use of fossil fuels to new energy sources, the 4th edition of Extractive360’s Just Energy Transition radio program x-rayed how Civil Society Organizations can synergize across sectors towards ensuring that a just transition is achieved in the country, with no one left behind.
Speaking on the topic: From silos to coalitions: The role of strategic alliance in just energy transition, on Redemption FM, Abak, the Chairman, Akwa Ibom State CSOs Forum, Harry Udoh, shared strategies on how CSOs can go from working in silos to building strong alliances and how those alliances can help CSOs access the right resources to advocate for just transition in Nigeria across sectors of health, education, water, among others.
Udoh also emphasized on how improved channels between CSOs and government can strengthen CSOs participation in policy processes and decrease the risk of politicizing just transition issues, also shared opportunities for CSOs to engage communities and harness their voices for inclusion into the national energy transition policy.
The radio program is part of the project ‘From Exclusion to Inclusion in National Just Transition Plans’ being implemented in partnership with Spaces for Change and support from Africa Center for Energy Policy.
