MITEI Holds Round-table On Beneficial Ownership Sensitisation Thursday

Ahead of Nigeria’s plan to open its maiden Beneficial Ownership (BO) Register in the extractive industries, a Roundtable to sensitize and educate Nigerians on the benefits and significance of the register is being organised in Abuja.

The Roundtable is organized by the Media Initiative on Transparency in Extractive Industries (MITEI) in partnership with Nigeria Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) on the theme: Beneficial Ownership Register, the Benefits & Significance to the Nigerian economy.”

MITEI is a non-profit non-governmental national civic network of extractive sector journalists working to promote transparency and accountability in Nigeria’s extractive sector.

According to the National Coordinator if MITEI,  Mr Bassey Udo, the meeting will provide an opportunity for the Executive Secretary of NEITI, Warri Adio, to present the latest Country update on Beneficial Ownership Register.

The Minister of Finance, Budget and National Planning, Mrs Zainab Ahmed, is expected to chair the event tomorrow, which will hold at the meeting room of the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF).

Members of the press, Civil Society organisations, Development Partners, and industry practioners are expected at the roundtable.
