NNPC Reports N60.5trn Revenue, N5.76trn Profit Despite Disruptions, Upgrades

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd.) reported revenue of N60.5 trillion and a profit after tax of N5.76 trillion for the 2025 financial year, according to its December 2025 monthly report summary, underscoring resilient earnings despite operational disruptions and infrastructure upgrades.

The state oil firm’s report detailed performance across crude oil and condensate production, natural gas output, and key strategic projects, noting that pipeline maintenance activities and facility outages weighed on output during parts of the year.

Average crude oil and condensate production stood at 1.54 million barrels per day, reflecting steady output amid ongoing infrastructure upgrades and persistent security challenges in producing regions. Gas production reached 6,914 million standard cubic feet per day (mmscfd) in December, after peaking above 7,500 mmscfd mid-year before easing toward year-end.

Gas sales remained stable at an average of over 4,700 mmscfd, highlighting NNPC’s increasing reliance on natural gas as Nigeria’s transition fuel and a stabilizing revenue source.

Profitability fluctuated during the year, with marginal losses recorded early on before a strong rebound between March and June. Operational reliability improved, with upstream pipeline availability showing strong performance: the Obiafu-Obrikom-Oben (OB3) Gas Pipeline recorded 100% availability, while the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano (AKK) Gas Pipeline posted 91%. NNPC Retail station availability stood at 65%.

The report pointed to notable gains in network stability and product distribution efficiency, particularly in the second half of the year. However, planned maintenance at Stardeep-Agbami and Renaissance-Estuary Area facilities, alongside unplanned outages, affected December production.

NNPC said major engineering milestones were achieved on strategic gas infrastructure, including river crossings and mainline welding on the AKK pipeline. The company also confirmed completion of the OB3 River Niger Crossing and the commencement of pilot hole drilling, noting that the project remains on schedule.
