OTC 2024 Announce Emerging Leaders Class

The Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) has unveiled the 2024 class of Emerging Leaders. This prestigious program is designed to recognize young professionals with less than 10 years of experience in the energy industry.

According to a statement by the OTC Board, the selected individuals for this year’s class have demonstrated their exceptional talents, commitment, and promise as future leaders in the offshore energy sector.

The OTC explained that each Emerging Leader candidate is a member of an OTC sponsoring, endorsing, or supporting organization, adding that the previous year’s Emerging Leaders class then selects the final candidates for the upcoming class.

“This award celebrates not only excellence but also the promise of a bright future within our industry. It’s a moment to recognize the remarkable achievements and potential of the young professionals who have demonstrated exceptional dedication, talent, and innovation,” Alex Martinez, Chair of the OTC Board said.

he stated that the following honorees have been selected to be recognized in a special ceremony during the conference on Tuesday, 7 May 2024, at the NRG Center, Houston, Texas.

They include: Rebecca Caldwell, PhD, Exploration Geologist, Chevron, AAPG, Yan Wang, PhD, Advanced Technology Development Engineer, ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company, AIChE, Jinbo Chen, PhD, Associate Professor, School of Naval Architecture Ocean and Civil Engineering, Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Mejdi Kammoun, PhD, Principal Engineer, American Bureau of Shipping, ASME Jian (Jason) Shi, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Houston, IEEE-OES, Pankaj Goel, PhD, Projects Advisor, ExxonMobil.

Others are Luz Zarate, Marine Technology Research Engineer, Shell International Exploration and Production, Shahrzad Roshankhah, PhD, Assistant Professor, University of Utah, Michael Renning, Engineer II, American Bureau of Shipping, Mathilde Luycx, PhD, Petrophysicist, ExxonMobil Technology and Engineering Company and Dillon Hoffmann, Offshore projects/Engineering Manager, Couvillion Group.

Martinez further added that “This year’s recipients embody the essence of what it means to be a young professional. Their commitment to excellence, relentless pursuit of knowledge, and unwavering passion for their work have set them apart.”

He said the selected persons have not only excelled in their field but have also shown remarkable leadership qualities, inspiring those around them to push beyond boundaries and explore new horizons.
