In this Quarterly report by the Nigerian Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (NEITI) titled, “Insights From States’ 2018 Total Revenue”, the poor financial position of Nigerian States is brought to the fore.
It highlights the rising debt profile of the states, even as a budget deficit was recorded by all 36 states in 2018.
The report showed that total revenue for Lagos State exceeded total revenue of each of the three geopolitical zones of South East, North East and North Central, and ironically position Lagos State s the biggest debtor state.
