NNPC Now Responsible For 75% Gas Supply To Power Plants

The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Dr. Maikanti Baru, has disclosed that the corporation was now responsible for 75 percent of gas supply to power plants in the country.

He disclosed this while being honoured with the “Distinguished Merit Award’’ by the Association of Business Managers and Administrators of Nigeria in Abuja.

According to a statement by the NNPC Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs, Mr. Ndu Ughamadu, the supply is to the tune of over 300 million standard cubic feet (Scf) of gas per day.

Reaffirming the readiness of the NNPC to ensure adequate supply of petroleum products in the country during the Easter holidays and beyond, Dr. Baru said the corporation currently had 1.7 billion litres of petrol in stock, equivalent to 35 days sufficiency, adding that plans were on to increase it to 2.4 billion litres by the end of the month.

Speaking earlier, registrar of the Association, Dr. Ike Christopher, said Baru was selected for the merit award because of his role in ensuring seamless supply of petroleum products which had brought about stability in prices of goods and services across the country.
