Eni Repositions, Creates New Operating Structure

The Board of Eni has approved a new structure for the company which will see the creation of two new business groups
The new groups are namely; Natural Resources, led by Massimo Mondazzi, and Energy Evolution, headed by Alessandro Puliti.
According to the new structure, Natural Resources will incorporate the company’s oil and gas exploration, development and production activities, along with natural gas sales via pipelines and LNG.
In addition, it will include carbon storage projects, with Eni Rewind (environmental activities) also consolidated in this business group.
Energy Evolution will focus on power generation, including from renewable energy and biomethane.
In addition, Eni plans to create a new function – Technology, R&D, and Digital – to help create growth, through the development of new technologies and their fast implementation on an industrial scale.
Under a separate development, Eni CEO Claudio Descalzi and Giuseppe Bono, CEO of Trieste-based shipyard group Fincantieri, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding extending their co-operation in Research & Development announced in 2017.
The main focus of the extension will be joint evaluation of opportunities for development of innovations in de-carbonization and the circular economy, including offshore renewable technologies, production and transport of energy carriers for natural gas, methanol or hydrogen.
The two companies have collaborated over the past three years on various concepts of floating offshore production platforms, such as Floating Gas to Methanol (using Eni technology) and a Floating Independent Power Plant.
